Just kidding…

Fanoos Persian Cuisine

Picture a Kroger grocery store fill it with booths. Booths made of large faux Persian area rugs stapled down on top of them. Then slap a 4 plank picnic table on top of the stapled area rug. Now fill the center of that Kroger Store’s linoleum floors with those beige tables from the basements of most southern baptist churches, cheap seats from old hotels… (because apparently the old hotels renovated and gave their old chairs to this place)… then cover the fold up tables with a clean white linen cloth…

(This place is cold and drafty… definitely not the place to take a first date, unless you know the owners)

The good folks at Fanoos like for you to come in and wait for about 30 minutes with or without and Opentable reservation and stand in “Aw” of all this linoleum.

You will not be greeted or smiled upon for about umm…. *checks watch* 39 minutes.

After the first 10 minutes, it begins to feel a bit awkward and lonely. If it wasn’t for the other couples waiting & standing with us, I probably would have left out of sheer embarrassment.

Now, picture me and my date finally being seated. We wait, wait some more, until 15 minutes before the kitchen closes, they threw us a basket of flat round pita bread, some mint & other herbs and some cream cheese. Oh and two glasses of water. They weren’t inhumane just not interested in taking our order. Many waiters and waitresses passed us but not one, even said hello or even acknowledged us with a smile or a nod.

My concern for the staff is that they are probably working under miserable working conditions. The belly dancer came by dancing on the cold bare linoleum floor, she had dirty feet and a pleasant smile. My date and I finally left $5 on the table for the clean up crew and got the HELL out of there, we wanted to eat, they wanted us to stare at the linoleum.

Honestly if these people don’t care about their restaurant, why should I ?
